The AIFAA allows the upcoming Adjusters of today to achieve recognition from leading bodies and representatives.
To become an AIFAA, the requirements are:
- Minimum of 2 years experience
- Qualified to the level that would allow you to commence examinations or assessment within your own Institute or Association. CIAA’s categories of membership “Level II” and “Level I” in adjusting meets the required standards for the AIFAA accreditation and is outlined in our constitution as follows:
LEVEL II
- Must be employed by a licensed and practicing CIAA/ACEI member firm.
- Must have a minimum of twenty-four (24) months employment with a licensed Insurance Adjusting firm; or twenty four (24) months of employment as a claims examiner, staff adjuster, or claims manager in a general insurance company;
- Must hold an “Intermediate Level” Independent Adjuster license;
- Must successfully complete the following IIC courses:
- C 11 Principles and Practice of Insurance (Or C 81 & C 82)
- C 12 Insurance on Property
- C 13 Insurance Against Liability – Part 1
- C 14 Automobile Insurance – Part 1
- C 110 Essentials of Loss Adjusting
- Elective CIP Course
- Progression to Level III membership requires successful completion of the courses outlined for Level III or must have attained their CIP designation with the Insurance Institute of Canada, or hold a principal – “full” Independent Adjuster license in their primary – resident jurisdiction and a minimum of sixty (60) months of employment with a licensed Insurance Adjusting firm; or sixty (60) months of employment as a claims examiner, staff adjuster, or claims manager in a general insurance company or a combination thereof; within the immediate preceding ten (10) year period; with the most recent twenty-four (24) months of employment as a licensed independent adjuster.
LEVEL I
- Must be employed by a licensed and practicing CIAA member firm.
- May be an employee performing investigation, research, and related support activities for their licensed employer.
- Progression to Level II membership requires successful completion of the courses outlined for Level II and a minimum of twenty-four (24) months employment with a licensed Insurance Adjusting firm; or twenty four (24) months of employment as a claims examiner, staff adjuster, or claims manager in a general insurance company; and must hold an “Entry Level” Independent Adjuster license.
